How stray vacancy actually works

Seats returned by candidates who upgraded or failed to report are pooled and re-allotted. Cutoffs drop furthest here because the alternative is a seat lapsing for five years. You cannot enter this round without having registered in the earlier ones, which is the single most common way low-score candidates lose their last chance.

NRI and management quota

NRI seats carry the lowest cutoffs and the highest fees, typically ₹80 Lakhs to ₹1.5 Crore across the course. Eligibility depends on a genuine NRI sponsor, and the definition of a qualifying relative differs by state — some accept a first-degree relative only, others allow a wider family. Documentation is verified, and a rejected NRI claim after fee payment is a common and expensive failure.

What “donation” really buys

Nothing enforceable. Every allotment is recorded on the MCC or state DGME portal against a merit position. A payment made outside that system buys no seat, no receipt that any authority recognises, and no recourse. Families lose large sums to this every cycle, usually at the point in the calendar when they are most frightened of being left with nothing.

Consultancy fees, stated plainly

Admission consultancies are typically paid by the institution as channel partners, and many also charge the family a separate guidance fee. That is a legal arrangement. It also means the college a consultancy recommends most strongly may be the one paying it best rather than the one that suits the candidate. Ask who pays them, and compare the answer against the fee and cutoff data on this site.
