Uttar Pradesh is India’s largest destination for private medical education for non-domicile students. Under the Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, 100% of seats in private medical colleges are open to candidates from every Indian state from Round 1, with no domicile prerequisite. For scores between 160 and 380 marks, annual tuition runs roughly ₹11.5 Lakhs to ₹13.5 Lakhs.
The ₹2,00,000 security deposit, and the rule that costs families most
Registering for UP private MBBS counselling requires a ₹2,000 non-refundable registration fee and a ₹2,00,000 refundable security deposit, paid online or by demand draft.
There is no free exit from Round 1. If you are allotted a seat in Round 1 and decline to report or join, the ₹2,00,000 is forfeited. To then participate in Round 2 you must deposit a further ₹2,00,000. If instead you accept the Round 1 seat and opt for upgradation, both the seat and the deposit carry forward automatically. This single rule accounts for most of the money families lose in the counselling season, and it is decided at the moment you lock your choice list — not when the allotment arrives.

How to order your choices
Counselling allots your highest reachable choice. Placing the hardest-to-get colleges at the top costs nothing — if your score does not reach one, the algorithm simply moves down the list. Placing an easily reached college first can block every better option beneath it.
